Infrared Radiofluorescence (IR-RF) of K-Feldspar: An Interlaboratory Comparison

Abstract Infrared Radiofluorescence (IR-RF) is a relatively new method for dosimetric dating of the depositional timing sediments. This contribution presents an interlaboratory comparison IR-RF measurements sedimentary feldspar from eight laboratories. A variability instrumental background, bleaching, saturation, and initial rise behaviour signal was carried out. Two endmember samples, naturally bleached modern dune sand sample with zero dose saturated Triassic sandstone (~250 Ma), were used this comparison. The major findings study are that (1) observed keeps decreasing beyond 4000 Gy, (2) gives apparent palaeodose 1265 ± 329 Gy (3) in most cases, natural analogue (resulting bleaching) higher than laboratory-induced bleaching 6 h, using solar simulator (SLS). In other words, laboratory unable to achieve level bleaching. results investigations discussed detail, along possible explanations.
